Responsibilities

*         Prepare, review, comment on and negotiate contracts and other commercial transactional documents with Akamai’s customers, suppliers and partners in Japan.

*         Advising on legal and regulatory risk associated with sales, networks, data privacy, and service offering and distribution.

*         Assure conformity and consistency in application of Akamai legal and business policies and practices.

*         Participate in efforts to enhance the legal department’s overall performance.

*         Handle other tasks that arise from time to time and require the attention of an Akamai attorney.

 

Basic Qualifications

Japanese -Native (Speaking, Writing and Reading) 
English - Business level


*         Fully qualified lawyer.

*         Strong verbal and written contract negotiation skills in both Japanese and English.

*         Experience in technology sectors.

 

Desired Qualifications

*         Two or more years of legal support or similar experience in private practice or in-house.

*         Excellent analytical, negotiation and contract drafting skills in a variety of technology/licensing agreements including software, managed services and multi-tier channel reseller models.

*         Strong working knowledge of Japanese commercial contract law, competition law, software licensing, privacy and data protection and intellectual property rights.

*         Astute commercial awareness, robust time and project management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

*         Solid experience in the telecommunications, Internet or IT field, ideally with a mix of law firm training and/or in-house experience.

*         Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a clear and concise drafting style.

*         Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

*         Ability to work independently, to multi-task and provide follow-through on projects.

*         Flexibility to work with colleagues and internal clients located throughout Japan.

*         Upbeat temperament, dynamic personality and highly team-oriented approach to work.

*         Enjoy working for a very fast paced team.

*         Good sense of humor.
