As an Enterprise Security Architect II in Akamai’s Global Security Center of Excellence, you will partner closely with Sales and field service and support personnel in an overlay role to acquire new customers, expand our positions within existing customers, drive consistency security solutions consistency, and grow the Akamai business as it relates to Akamai’s Security portfolio of products and services. 

You will support the field integrated account teams to engage prospects on security issues throughout the customer lifecycle, providing our customers with insight into Akamai's security practices, technologies, and solutions, and provide clarity regarding what Akamai can and cannot provide today and into the future. You will work independently and with small teams in satisfying individual customer requests, including Executive Briefings, contract discussions, technical design, and product requirements. This includes partnering with a cross-functional set of Akamai teams, including Sales, Engineering, Product Development, Finance, Legal, and Customer Care to address issues, develop understandings of customer requirements, and satisfy customer security needs at every opportunity.


Required Education and Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements: 

  • Relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent

Required Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical and business related subjects to all audiences, from the user to the executive level
  • Experience in technical pre-sales/sales engineering and/or other customer facing role consulting on, delivering and/or supporting technical products or services
  • Strong Network Engineering and Internet Protocol Experience
  • Demonstrated success developing client relationships
  • Must be enthusiastic, action oriented, capable of independently solving complex technical problems and able to communicate clearly and effectively to both technical and business audiences.
  • Must be willing to travel (approximately 40 - 50%)

Desired Skills

  • Must be able to convey a powerful security narrative
  • Must possess excellent technical aptitude and a desire to learn constantly
  • Extensive exposure to security technologies, processes, and concepts such as PKI, SSL, firewalls, NIST 800-53, FIPS-140-2, Authentication & Authorization, Client Certificates, OCSP, Radware, Arbor, DDoS mitigation techniques etc. a plus.
  • Deep experience with fundamental Internet protocols: BGP, GRE, MPLS, CDN, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, HTTP, FTP, DNS, TCPDump, Wireshark
  • Experience in a customer facing role requiring a high level of individual responsibility, sound business judgment and large enterprise account management, where an aptitude for improving customer satisfaction was successfully demonstrated
  • Industry security certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, JNCNP/JNCIE, CISSP, GIAC and CEH.
  • Experience consulting in related technologies
  • Programming experience – C, C++, J2EE, .NET, Flash/Flex, Web services and website development
  • Experience with applied Web Application security technologies, Internet technologies, including ecommerce, online marketing, online advertising, digital media, video streaming, content management systems, content publishing systems, Web analytics and Internet security
  • Experience with enterprise and data center networks, system design and operation, infrastructure design and build out, caching proxies, routing, switching and load balancing
  • Hands-on experience in operating web- and cloud-based systems
  • Experience creating and delivering effective training
  • Ability to manage fast-paced customer engagement environments
  • Project management experience
