As a Commodity Manager, you will be responsible for such things as:
* Developing Akamai’s long-term commodity strategy, creating short-term purchase plans, and executing them
* Defining pricing strategies and contract timing
* Evaluating market conditions and trends to ensure timely delivery of materials
* Managing deep and ongoing relationships with suppliers
* Ensuring compliance with contract terms, evaluating supplier performance, and minimizing errors & omissions
* Maintaining a high level of expertise around component industries and supplier market conditions

About the Team
The Networks organization is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Akamai’s network.  As part of our Hardware Engineering group, you will be a critical part of our supply chain core team, responsible for ensuring the consistent and cost-effective supply of hardware to build the Akamai network.  You will use your extensive industry experience and supplier relationships to provide Akamai access to the best total cost and hardware availability possible in the market.


**Please note this position can also be based out of Seattle or Santa Clara**

Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements: 
* 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain or its equivalent
* 6 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree in Engineering or Supply Chain 

Required Skills 
* 5 years of experience in server related commodities: memory, flash, DRAM, SSD, or HDD
* 5 years of relevant experience in commodity management or supply chain management
* 2 years of experience with x86 based servers, their components and function.

Desired Skills
* Master of Business Administration (MBA)
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Experience in data center or server industry
