Deal Desk Analyst

As a Deal Desk Analyst, you will review and issue deal approvals for international and U.S.sales deals. You will ensure margin targets are protected by understanding Akamai COGS structure and collaborating with Akamai network team. You must grasp Akamai revenue recognition policy and guide Akamai Channel Managers on margin negotiations to resellers.

You will be responsible for producing monthly and quarterly reports on sales trends and providing feedback to Product Management on success of new product offerings. 

As a DealDesk Analyst you will be responsible for:

  • Providing deal analysis support for all deals requiring escalations, including analyzing complex strategic deals and/or custom proposals and help with negotiations
  • Ensuring Deal Desk policies and procedures are correctly aligned with sales, product division and greater finance goals and objectives
  • Managing key relationships between Akamai’s sales, network, product division and other Finance leaders to ensure open communication and transparency amongst all parties
  • Promoting and influencing necessary changes to published pricing and deal structure definitions for existing products and guidance on the creation of new product additions to the Akamai Price and Discount Guide
  • Developing and delivering financial reports on market trends to drive better communication and future decision making
  • Leading cross-functional projects to increase finance and Deal Desk’s ability to efficiently and accurately analyze proposed sales deals
  • Coordinating and planning necessary training documents and presentations for new sales hires
  • Supporting and partnering with product divisions, business development and other finance groups on new, innovative and highly customized business deals and partnerships.

About the Team

The Deal Desk is a cross-functional team responsible for the approval and structuring of all non-standard sales deals. It serves as the final authority for all deal approvals when pricing drops below sales management discounting thresholds. The Deal Desk also guides sales managers on the proper structure of deals to ensure margin targets and revenue recognition requirements are met.

Required Education and Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

  • 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent or
  • Relevant experience and a Master’s degree or PhD or
  • Relevant Professional Experience

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in finance or related field
  • Minimum 2 years experience in supporting product pricing, contract structures, and/or developing proposals.

  • Must be an analytical and Strategic thinker with the ability to amicably problem solve
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Detail-oriented, with ability to manage multiple projects and deals
  • Possession of strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to independently work in fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
