We are seeking a Global Benefits Director to manage benefit programs for the US, Canada, and Latin America (AMERICAS) and 20+ countries in the EMEA & APJ regions.  This role will focus on benefits such as health and welfare, retirement, time off, work/life programs, and perks.  The right candidate will be a technical expert in employee benefit programs, hyper-focused on top-notch customer (employee) support, an effective communicator, and proficient in benefits operations.  


In this role, you will:  

* Design, implement, and regularly review benefit programs for employees in the AMERICAS region; guide and oversee the development, implementation, and management of benefit programs for employees in the EMEA & APJ regions

* Ensure programs remain market competitive, cost effective, legally compliant, and aligned with our global benefits philosophy and Akamai’s business needs

* Monitor trends in the marketplace, prevalent practices among peer companies, emerging technologies, and new product solutions to help shape recommendations for new programs or program improvements

* Review existing technology used for benefit administration and make recommendations for enhancements or enhanced efficiencies

* Prepare annual project plan and operating budget; monitor plan expenditures against budget throughout the year

* Develop and prepare scorecards, metrics, and reports for management

* Conduct due diligence and manage integrations relative to potential mergers and acquisitions 

* Manage day-to-day administration of benefits in the AMERICAS region, including US open enrollment and US leave of absence administration

* Maintain operational excellence in the AMERICAS region through process documentation, controls, and strong vendor management

* Develop and execute effective and innovative benefits communications in the AMERICAS region


About the Team

The Global Benefits Director will join our Global HR team, and be based in our Cambridge, Massachusetts office.  The role will report to the Senior Director, Global Benefits & HR Operations.  The Global Benefits Director will manage a US-based team and provide ongoing guidance to regional Compensation & Benefits leads in EMEA & APJ. 


Required Education and Experience

* Bachelor’s degree

* 10+ years of experience in Global Benefits


Required Skills

* 5+ years of people management experience

* 10+ years of deep knowledge of benefit program design, management and communications

* 10+ years of demonstrated expert knowledge of the US benefit regulatory environment and US benefit plan administration

 

Desired Skills

* Self-motivated and passionate about employee benefits and bringing the very best work/life experience to employees around the globe

* Practical experience managing benefits in multiple countries

* Capability of planning and priority setting; ability to manage several complex projects in a time-sensitive and high volume environment

* Ability to build effective relationships internally and externally

* Ability to lead, influence, and negotiate

* Strong attention to detail

* Ability to work successfully through ambiguity

* Experience in the high-tech industry a plus

* Experience with mergers and acquisitions and international expansion a plus

* Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; possesses a marketer’s mindset when approaching benefits communications

* Proven people manager with a demonstrated ability to support, develop, and challenge a high-performing team

* Strong problem solving skills and judgment

* Creative and innovative
