The Financial Analyst II position is a key role within the Media Division Finance team. This role will provide financial and strategic analysis and reporting of business results.  This role will assist with all financial aspects of the business, providing support to the Media Division Sr Director of Finance, as well as also partnering with other members of the Media Division Finance team and the broader Finance organization, Media management and extended team.  Key responsibilities include monthly and quarterly financial reporting for the Media business unit, weekly and monthly Head Count tracking and forecasting, short and long term OPEX forecasting and weekly and monthly traffic reporting.  The individual in this role will work closely with cross functional stakeholders to drive a clear understanding of business drivers through clear analytics, operational metrics, business insights and regular reporting of financial results. This role will also require an individual who can identify, prepare and implement process improvements.

About the Team

The Financial Analyst II will be an integral part of Akamai’s Media Division Finance team and will report directly to the Media Division Sr Director of Finance. The Media Division Finance team owns all financial and operational analysis for both the Media Division and the Media business unit and directly supports leadership of the Media organization. The team is responsible for forecasting and analysis related to traffic and all P&L areas, including Revenue, COGS and OpEx.

 

Responsibilities

  •  Proactively monitor and put in place performance reporting processes to ensure both short-term and long-term objectives are met.
  •  Ensure that business and financial plans include defined and measurable initiatives and programs aligned to support such plans.
  •  Develop and implement short-term financial and operational plans (budgets and forecasts).
  •  Set business framework for managing business investments, resource allocations, business planning, operations and performance measurements.
  •  Provide management team with insightful decision support/business analysis.
  •  Understand competitive landscape, including business strategies, cost structures and key business metrics.
  •  Ensure pricing and investments support business growth and continued profit improvement.
  •  Establish and maintain strong business controls.

 

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with financial and strategic analysis and business partnering AND Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business required OR Minimum 3 years of experience and advanced degree.

  •  Ability to package financial data/information in an executive manner focused on driving business decisions.
  •  Strong communication and interpersonal skills; can effectively work with people across multiple levels of the organization and is comfortable working cross functionally.
  •  Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
  •  Clear thinking/problem solving; able to quickly grasp new ideas, organize complex information and successfully lead initiatives and projects cross functionally.
  •  High degree of comfort and experience with moving from data gathering, through focused analysis, to clear, accurate and compelling story telling of key business drivers and business insights.
  •  Demonstrated drive for results, reporting, analytical and problem solving skills.
  •  Curious, self-starter who consistently takes the initiative to address questions and build new processes/structures.
  •  Flexible; able to quickly and successfully adapt to change.
  •  Able to anticipate, identify and resolve complex financial issues.
  •  Experience supporting a Professional services organization.
  •  3 years of experience working in the high tech industry.
  •  Familiarity with Hyperion, Oracle Business Intelligence, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint & Word)
