Platform Operations Engineer II

Required Education and Experience

* 5 years of relevant experience and a relevant Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent; or

* 3 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree; or 

* Relevant experience and a PhD 

Basic Qualifications

* 3+ years in Linux/Unix and related tools

* 3+ years configuring router protocols (including BGP) in a large service provider organization, including experience configuring route-maps, communities, extensive ACLs, and virtual routing instances

* 3+ years experience with large-scale content distributed systems

* 2+ years in IP network design and ethernet technologies, including security and DDoS mitigation  

* 2+ years of expertise in technical analysis and troubleshooting

Desired Qualifications

* Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform advanced performance and capacity tuning administration tasks

* Excellent knowledge in routing - BGP, OSPF, GRE, RPL, ACL

* Excellent knowledge in switching - Knowledge of L2VPN Technologies, VLAN, LACP, MPLS

* Scripting

* Linux/systems - HTTPS, TCP/IP, DNS, SSL, Firewalls

* SNMP

* Excellent mentorship and leadership skills

* Excellent communication skills, with experience in explaining complex technical content

* Meticulous attention to detail and care in their work

* Technically creative, able to learn, and a strong troubleshooter

* Highly self-motivated, self-disciplined, and able to work independently

* Experience working with vendors and ISPs

* Experience with SQL and shell scripting

* Prior experience at Akamai
