Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
* 15 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
* 12 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
* 8 years of relevant experience and a PhD in Computer Science or equivalent.
Required Skills
* 15+ years of experience designing or developing high-availability, distributed, or complex systems.
* 10+ years of experience analyzing system reliability, scaling, performance, and security.
Desired Skills
* Highly responsible, self-disciplined, self-managed, self-motivated, able to work with little or no supervision.
* Proven track record of analyzing and designing highly-distributed systems.
* Experience working with Internet protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS.
* Extensive experience working on multiple projects at a time in a fast paced, results oriented environment.
* Ability to constructively lead brainstorming and design sessions
* Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to write technical reports and documentation
* Excellent verbal communication skills, including proven ability to clarify and explain technical concepts and make oral technical presentation
* Ability to work collaboratively and influence peer architects across Akamai
* Understanding of Akamai software and systems
