Our Data Services team consists of collaborative, inclusive, and creative individuals. We develop cloud-native services with high reliability and massive scale on top of Akamai Cloud (formerly Linode) the most distributed and closest to the edge cloud platform in the world.

Be part of enhancing our organization

You will work at the heart of the Internet building and operating systems gathering telemetry from the Akamai distributed platform. You will join other software engineers in a cross-functional scrum team that owns the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of core monitoring services and products used by thousands of internal and external Akamai customers.

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Leading by example in the design, development, improvement, operation, and automation of observability solutions for Akamai services
• Driving modern DevOps practices, building new services, or enhancing the existing ones
• Testing, profiling, and monitoring code performance
• Diagnosing system performance and reliability together with the team of Site Reliability Engineers
• Partnering with product owners, development, and test groups to create rapid cycles of feedback and improvement

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have exceptional collaborative skills and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams to solve technical and business challenges
• Have advanced knowledge of Web technologies, distributed systems, and modern observability solutions
• Have experience in programming and automating processes using C/C++ and other programming languages
• Have experience with developing software in GNU/Linux or Unix environment
• Have extensive experience with legacy code refactoring and software modernization
• Have extensive experience working with various SDLC models
• Have a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, another related field, or equivalent experience
