Required Education and Experience

Applicants should meet the following education and experience requirements:

3 years of relevant experience with troubleshooting distributed systems (A Must)

Bsc. in Computer Science or equivalent degree (Advantage)

Required Skills:
3 years of experience analyzing complex systems

3 years experience with statistics and data analysis

3 years coding/scripting experience (Python, Perl, R, etc.)

3 years experience working in a UNIX/Linux environment (shell, OS concepts, etc.)

Desired Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication
Experience with internetworking technology concepts, internet protocols and large scale distributed systems.
Experience with SQL queries
Basic knowledge on Web Security (Bots, SQL Injections, DDoS etc.)

Service Performance is the Akamai group with end-to-end responsibility for ensuring our services are performing well. A well-performing service, in addition to being fast and available, also needs to be robust and well-operated.

As a Product Analysis Engineer you will be responsible for:

* Working on analysis projects related to the critical platform technologies used to deliver Akamai’s services over the Internet. Team members leverage advanced skills in data analysis, network diagnostics and debugging tools to make sense of a global, distributed network, content delivery environment. Apply and gain knowledge about related network protocols and implementations, routing protocols, and application level protocols to measure, analyze, characterize and improve performance, robustness, availability and scalability of the Akamai delivery platform.

* Working closely with the Security Development team to define what our monitoring systems should detect and the actions taken to address problems.
In addition the Security team works with the System Architects and Product Managers in defining relevant KPIs to make sure the product is working as expected. The team responds to incidents, but more importantly gathers and analyzes data to root out errors, discern trends, analyzes our predictive performance models, and prevents incidents through proactive analysis and monitoring. The team is responsible for identifying and finding the root causes of performance and availability issues.

* Working closely with the business units to define quality of service requirements for our services and use the requirements to drive how we allocate network capacity around the globe. The team is responsible for guiding the Development Performance team to optimize resource utilization while exceeding the quality of service requirements.

* Tackle the challenges of integrating sophisticated security services with uncompromised fast delivery the team will be working closely with Engineering teams, specifically with those that design and implement the mapping/control/reliability systems and server software that are the heart of Akamai’s technology, in order to help guide the adoption of new features and determine where to make new technology investments.
