Overview
Akamai Technologies is hiring a Product Manager with the creativity, vision, drive, and experience to lead the mission of delivering innovative applications, APIs, and services to control the world’s largest Internet delivery platform. 
 
The Portal team builds the platform, applications and APIs that enable our users — Akamai customers, partners, and employees — to configure, manage, visualize, and troubleshoot Akamai products and services. We work across Akamai to deliver platform capabilities and standards to ensure a consistent experience. 
 
The individual who takes this role will join the team working to improve the provisioning and configuration applications, APIs, and tooling. You will be the product champion in bringing solutions to market that allow our customers to self-service their experience on the Akamai Intelligent Edge Platform. Applicants must be eager to join a fast paced and fun environment with big challenges and a team first approach. 
 
Responsibilities
  • Represent the customer. Build strong customer relationships. Develop deep insights on evolving customer requirements. Be the champion and voice of the customer. Bring the customer's voice into the product development process.
  • Build partnerships with internal stakeholders. Understand their needs and create solutions together.  
  • Collaborate with engineering to develop and implement solutions to highly technical problems.
  • Manage the roadmap. Make prioritization decisions to adjust based on engineering tradeoffs and customer feedback. Own development of business cases to support proposed investment priorities.
  • Gather, document, prioritize, and communicate business and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate across teams. Product managers play a critical role in creating alignment between engineering teams and other stakeholders. A collaborative attitude is a must.
  • Measure success. Define and own the measures used to define success for your products.
  • Develop new opportunities based on customer feedback and market dynamics.
 
About the Team
Akamai Control Center is the customer-facing interface that all customers interact with to access traffic analytics, manage configurations, get help, view their bill, and more. Control Center sits squarely in the middle of a complex systems landscape, and involves deep and complex integration across Akamai. The Portal Product Management team drives the definition, prioritization, planning processes, business metrics, communication, and delivery of applications, APIs, and services to both customers and internal stakeholders. You will be part of a team that is an essential component of a fast-paced organization and is known for their organizational agility, ability to adapt to changing environments, finesse in challenging situations, and clear, concise communication skills.


Required Education and Experience
 
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
  • 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent or 6 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree
 
Required Skills
  • You have 5+ years of experience in product management, product development, technical consulting or equivalent experience
  • You have 2+ years of experience with content delivery products, cloud services, or internet-related technologies
 
Desired Skills
  • You have a broad understanding of customer development workflows and how Akamai fits in
  • You have knowledge of developer trends and environments
  • You are able to assess new markets, analyze business opportunities and execute against them
  • You can translate market and customer needs into technical requirements
  • You have a passion for great user experiences with a proven ability to partner with UX to design beautiful and intuitive interfaces from concept to production
  • You have an understanding of web technologies and ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • You thrive at working in a close team environment and building personal relationships
  • You have exceptional verbal and written communications skills, excellent organizational skills, including the ability to juggle multiple priorities while continuing to make progress
  • You have a strong understanding of the product management discipline
  • You are able to prioritize requirements in order to form a strategy and roadmap
  • You have experience managing shared services in a platform organization
  • You thrive in highly cross-functional environments and working within a fast paced agile environment with multiple remote teams.
  • You are highly self-motivated and self-sufficient
