Our Information Security team is responsible for safeguarding Akamai, its customers, and the Internet worldwide. We are looking for a seasoned individual to lead our cybersecurity government compliance efforts. This highly visible position will play a critical role in serving Akamai's public sector customers and in shaping the security practices across Akamai.

Managing the practices, governance, and portfolio of the company's security compliance for the U.S. public sector. As Senior Director of Information Security, you will be responsible for:

  • Shaping the vision for FedRAMP compliance for our portfolio of services, products and partnering closely with stakeholders.
  • Advising, influencing, and educating the rest of the company on matters of security and U.S. government compliance.
  • Bringing experience in information security, risk management, and compliance for cloud environments with deep knowledge in U.S. federal security compliance.
  • Facilitating the adoption of changes needed to comply with U.S. cybersecurity regulations, in harmony with cybersecurity regulations across the globe.
  • Supporting subject-matter experts in communicating compliance strategy and requirements across the organization
  • Building partnerships with the FedRAMP PMO to assist in evolving the FedRAMP program at scale
  • Liaising with peer organizations across the industry and the 3PAO

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 12 years of experience and a master's degree or the equivalent work experience
  • Have experience with federal security compliance and risk management frameworks (NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5, NIST SP 800-218, and NIST RMF controls).
  • Possess a solid foundation in core security domains like secure software development practices, vulnerability management, encryption, networking, and security monitoring.
  • Have experience with cybersecurity and overseeing security audits
  • Understand complex technical systems, their control and measurement, and with describing the risks within those systems
  • Be able to communicate clearly, effectively and persuasively verbally and in writing to technical and business audiences
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in both meticulously planned strategic scenarios and rapid-response emergency situations, sometimes simultaneously.
  • Be capable of fostering focus and collaborative teamwork among a group of highly skilled, highly independent staff.
  • Be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $165,000 - $342,900/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Akamai provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation (in the form of PTO), sick time, family friendly benefits including parental leave and an employee assistance program including a focus on mental and financial wellness; Eligibility requirements apply.
