Senior II Engagement Manager - The Engagement Manager plays a critical role in ensuring overall revenue growth and retention within Akamai's accounts. This role is responsible for the successful deployment of Akamai’s solutions for customers, and overall customer satisfaction. The Engagement Manager is an integral part of the sales cycle, collaborating with the Account Executive to expand the breadth and depth of Akamai services adoption. This role also provides oversight during implementations to mitigate project risk and increase the value realized by Akamai’s customers. Will engage with our customers to consult on industry best practices, design and build quality solutions, and always maintain the highest quality customer service. The Senior II level of an engagement manager adds additional responsibilities of being a technical leader in the practice.


Responsibilities  

* Serve as the single point of contact for the customer managing executive level client relationships, overall technical direction and strategy and provide team oversight during the implementation of projects. 

* Serve in a customer-facing role requiring a high level of individual responsibility, sound business judgment and large enterprise account management knowledge, where an aptitude for improving customer satisfaction is regularly demonstrated.

* Solid ability to act as a subject-matter expert in Akamai solutions, video workflow and/or content delivery ecosystems

* Perform Technical Pre-sales activities on assigned accounts including creating proposals, Statements of Work and detailed programs for customer engagements and integration strategies including timelines, effort estimates, complexity and risk assessments.

* Team effectively with other parts of the organization including Support and Product Management to address and resolve customer issues. 

* Participate in operational issues related to specific engagements, including billing, staffing, scheduling, and utilization management.

* Work closely with Account Management, Sales professionals, engineering, product development and Customer Care to resolve issues that arise on accounts. 

* Identify new product features and additional sales opportunities during trials and integrations and communication of the same to product development and sales teams. 

* Track and oversee all health metrics by account. 

* Travel Requirement to supported customer’s headquarters when necessary (up to 25% travel).

* Participate and lead further development of the Akamai platform and Professional Services practice through self-starter innovation and programs.

The Media Services team is an experienced group of industry experts and Internet technologists working with the top Media, Publishing, Gaming and Broadcasting companies.  Having joined Akamai from a range of backgrounds, they engage with our customers to design and build quality solutions, consult on industry best practices, support large live streaming events, and always maintain the highest quality customer service.


Qualifications


Required Education and Experience 

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements: 

* 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems, another related filed or its equivalent or

* 8 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems. 


Required Skills  

* Minimum 8 years of experience delivering consulting services, including involvement in selling services

* Minimum 8 years of experience with enterprise level project management experience (SOWs, contract management, risk management, staffing)

* Minimum 8 years of experience in one or more web development languages, methodologies, and / or architectures


Desired Skills 

* Proven ability in effective written and verbal communication and technical project management. 

* Demonstrated experience in technical pre-sales/sales engineering, consulting, and/or other customer facing role consulting on, delivering technical products or services.

* Demonstrated detailed knowledge of Internet technologies, such as HTTP/HTTPS and DNS.

* Proven ability with any one or an equivalent programming languages and with architecture, design, development (Python, J2EE, .NET, C#, JSP, ASP etc.  HTTP, DNS, Tomcat, Apache etc), and troubleshooting

* Proven ability to work independently and to apply strategic thinking with technical depth.

* Experience in a customer facing role requiring a high level of individual responsibility, experience overseeing the design, build, and deployment of various intranet applications, skills in large account management, where an aptitude for improving customer satisfaction was successfully demonstrated.

* Detailed knowledge of Internet technologies and considered a subject matter expert in any relevant web technologies and online analytics 

* Managed teams in dotted line reporting metrics structures

* Implementation experience with web delivery technologies and delivering internet technologies within B2B or B2C - shopping cart, user personalization, and dynamic database architectures or equivalent.
