In this senior technical leader role, you will be building highly scalable, reliable and usable software solutions for bot and abuse detection. Allowing our customers to better manage bot traffic and help improve the internet for millions of people.
As a Software Engineer Senior Principal Lead, you will be responsible for:
- Creating and enhancing bot manager detection and features, including conception, design, testing and deployment
- Providing technical leadership across engineering teams to develop, innovate and continually improve product design
- Guiding and performing activities such as design and code reviews, identifying improvements to software quality, performance/integration tests
- Collaborating with Threat Research, Product Management, Architects and Operations teams to drive bot and abuse detection feature from concept to reality
- Analyzing large sets of data to develop and improve malicious bot detection, behavioral authentication and fraud detection
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have 12+ years' experience and Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or another related field or its equivalent
- Have experience in designing and developing scalable systems
- Be experienced in Software development, ideally in Python or GoLang
- Have expertise in networking/internet protocols such as TCP/IP , DNS, HTTP/HTTPS and TLS
- Have a well- rounded background in host, network and application security
- Have experience in applying advanced anomaly detection and machine-learning techniques to the security field

Compensation
Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $183,830 - $293,999/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
