Overview
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Linux kernel software test engineer to join and support our Linux Kernel software development operations.  You will serve in a development operations role, responsible for the quality and efficiency of the team's operations. Our dev ops engineers improve the time to market, quality and reliability for a core component critical to the Akamai business. You will collaborate closely with kernel developers as well as many internal Akamai teams and the open source community. You will be own release and feature test plans for the Linux kernel -- the foundation of Akamai’s Intelligent Platform. You will be tasked with diagnosing and troubleshooting complex systems issues and validating quality of improvements. You will improve and automate the kernel development and testing environments. Lastly you will support the kernel development operation with providing solutions that are secure, scalable, and reliable.

As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test II you will:
* Write and maintain automated Linux kernel tests, including: unit, integration, regression, and performance tests
* Implement and improve the continuous integration/development environment tools and frameworks
* Triage and troubleshoot system issues found in testing and in production
* Review designs, test plans, source code and testing results
* Support the kernel software development operations

About the Team
The Kernel Engineering team provides the Linux kernel innovation for the Akamai global distributed network composed of 216,000 servers, 1500 networks, and 120 countries.  The Kernel Engineering team is part of the larger Platform Infrastructure Engineering team that develops and supports the Linux kernel, operating system, security, and communications infrastructure common across our distributed network. Required Education and Experience:
* 8+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelors degree or
* 6+ years of relevant experience and a Masters degree or
* 3+ years of relevant experience and a PhD or
* Equivalent professional experience

Required Skills
* 8+ years experience writing automated tests and improving automation environments
* 8+ years of experience with Linux operating system and computer system architectures
* 8+ years of C programming experience

Desired Skills
* Proficiency in Unix shell scripting, Perl, or Python.
* Strong understanding of network protocols, including IP, IPv6, TCP, UDP, and ICMP
* Experience testing large scale distributed systems
* Prior contributions to Open Source projects, especially the Linux kernel or operating systems
* Experience with SQL
