We are looking for a highly motivated, talented individual who will help build our cloud storage platform. The job provides the opportunity to be a key part of a team that will be combines innovative in-house technology with cutting edge open-source projects to produce solutions that will meet Akamai’s needs. The engineer will focus on analysis, design, implementation, demonstration and documentation of our cloud storage solution.

As a Senior Software Engineer you will:
* Design and develop new features from scratch, enhance existing features and optimize existing functionality, from conception and design through testing and deployment.
* Work in an agile sprint environment to deliver quality software on a regular and consistent basis
* Work on projects that make our product more stable, faster, and secure.
* Measure and optimize system performance
* Collaborate with our architecture, QA and operational teams to come create a world class service

About the Team
Akamai powers over 85% of the top online retailers, the top 30 media and entertainment companies, and delivers somewhere between 15% to 30% of Internet traffic on any given day. The NetStorage engineering team is a part of Akamai’s Media Division, which is responsible for Akamai’s large-scale video, music, and software distribution solutions. We design and develop Akamai’s cloud storage solution. We are a diverse team located in Santa Clara, Cambridge and Bangalore. Having access to Akamai’s broad networking experience, global footprint, and high profile customer base allows the team to create an innovative product with global impact.

Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
* 5+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or
* 3+ years of relevant experience and a Master's degree 

Required Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 years of experience with C/C++
* Minimum of 5 years of experience with multi-threaded development on Linux or Unix based OS.

Desired Qualifications
* Highly responsible, self-disciplined, self-managed, self-motivated, able to work with little or no supervision.
* Extensive experience working on projects in a fast paced, results oriented environment.
* Experience with the complete software development life cycle, from requirements to design, implementation, testing, and release.
* Experience with system software that power a 24x7 service
* Experience with distributed systems.
* Experience with a NoSQL database.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
