Overview
Solutions Engineers are experienced sales engineering professionals, adept at defining solutions that meet the business and technical requirements of existing and prospective Akamai customers. A Solution Engineer is self directed, capable of leading technical sales activities, managing the customer technical relationship, and assuming subject matter expert responsibilities within Akamai.

As a Senior Solutions Engineer you will:
* Drive revenue by managing the pre-sales technical process and evangelizing Akamai's technology to existing and prospective customers, and to drive new product and service offerings.
* Partner with direct sales to educate existing and prospective customers about the superiority of Akamai's services - this includes conference calls, site visits, presentations, technical evaluations, technical objection handling, proposals, and follow up on all customer related issues.
* Oversee the customer proposal process and ensure that all technical information and recommendations addressing customer requirements are properly defined.
* Support and educate Sales, Marketing and other internal departments to ensure that customers get appropriate updates, upgrades and event-oriented solutions.
*Work closely with Product Management and associated teams to develop future product direction and strategy - providing valuable input from the field.
* Educate customers and peers on relevant Internet and Media / OTT technologies, trends, and best practices.
* Demonstrate a high standard of leadership by actively developing and mentoring new hires within the Services and Sales organizations.
* Must be willing to travel to approximately 25%.

About the Team
The Media Division is responsible for the creation and sale of Akamai services related to the large-scale distribution of video, music, and software that are sold to major media companies. The Media Division includes the core functions of engineering, product development, product management, sales, channels and product marketing. This team supports customers with their over-the-top (OTT) video, live events, and streaming video optimization requirements through the operation of a global, highly-scalable platform for content ingestion and transformation, storage, and high quality media delivery.


Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
* 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field or its equivalent or
* 6 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field or its equivalent

Required Skills
* Minimum 8 years of experience in technical pre-sales/sales engineering, consulting, and/or other customer facing role consulting on, delivering technical products or services.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in internet technologies and protocols, including DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, Web architecture and design, TLS, Live/VOD Streaming, OTT Broadcasting.

Desired Skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical and business related subjects to all audiences.
* Experience with Internet technologies, including an understanding of streaming, site delivery, web analytics and security.
* Experience with hosting or developing Internet delivered applications, managed security services, enterprise and data center networks, caching proxies, and load balancing.
* Demonstrated problem solving skills, drive for results, interpersonal savvy, and customer focus.
* Domain knowledge of products and processes related to Digital Media - streaming, content security, broadcasting, online publishing, social media, gaming.
