About the Job

Akamai is looking for a Senior SQA Engineer with a minimum of 5 years testing and automation experience combined with the skills and passion to help build system-level test automation and execute automated and manual tests for some of Akamai’s most interesting and complex technologies. You will be on a team responsible for testing the performance, reliability, scalability, security, and functionality of Akamai's Mapping System/CDN technologies.

About the Team 

The Platform Quality Assurance group is responsible for extensive testing across multiple Internet load balancing technologies and systems developed at Akamai. This group is focused on integrating these technologies and focusing on real-world, end-to-end testing to ensure all of Akamai's systems integrate and deploy to Akamai’s Platform.


* Develop test coverage for network software applications

* Ensure that system and software under test meet product design/specifications

* Perform full SQA cycle for software releases in a fast-pace environment. This includes - but is not limited to - gathering specs, developing test plans, running automated and manual tests as needed, and analyzing test results 

* Perform technical risk assessment and contribute to decisions related to release readiness and schedules

* Continuously improve testing methodologies, procedures and environment

* Continuously develop and enhance automated test suites to improve efficiency

* Maintain our large-scale, distributed test environment

* Regularly review and improve test coverage

Required Education and Experience

* 8 years of relevant experience and BA/BS in Computer Science/Engineering or other technical discipline or its equivalent

Required Skills

* 3+ years of experience developing or testing network software applications

* 3+ years of experience working in Linux/Unix environment

* 3+ years of experience using databases and SQL commands


Desired Skills

* Experience developing automation in Python, Java or C++ or Perl 

* Experience with testing very large scale, distributed systems

* Familiarity with test tools (such as Selenium) and continuous integration systems (such as Jenkins) 

* Strong problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills, attention to detail

* Willingness and flexibility to switch between multiple high priority assignments

* Excellent verbal and written communications skills

* Highly driven, positive attitude, self-motivated and a team player

* Strong Knowledge of Networking protocols like HTTP, TCP, IP, DNS, Routing Protocols like BGP.
