Overview
Solutions Engineers are experienced sales engineering professionals, adept at defining solutions that meet the business and technical requirements of existing and prospective Akamai customers. A Solution Engineer is self directed, capable of leading technical sales activities, managing the customer technical relationship, and assuming subject matter expert responsibilities within Akamai.

As a Solutions Engineer you will:
* Oversee the customer proposal process and ensure that all technical information and recommendations addressing customer requirements are properly defined.
* Support and educate Sales, Marketing, and other internal departments to ensure that customers get appropriate updates, upgrades, and event-oriented solutions.
* Educate customers and peers on relevant Internet and Media technologies, trends, and best practices.
* Partner with direct sales to educate existing and prospective new customers about the superiority of Akamai's services - this includes conference calls, site visits, presentations, technical evaluations, technical objection handling, proposals, and follow up on all customer related issues.
* Drive revenue by managing the pre-sales technical process and evangelizing Akamai's technology to existing and prospective customers, and to drive new product and service offerings.
* Demonstrate a high standard of leadership by actively developing and mentoring new hires within the Services and Sales Organization
* Work closely with Product Management and associated teams to ensure that customers get appropriate updates, upgrades, and event-oriented solutions.
* Travel approximately 25%

About the Team
Solutions Engineering is the technical side of the field sales team, a world-class organization that provides unanticipated value and strives to provide the “right” solution to our customers and prospects. Our Solutions Engineers possess the highest levels of both business and technical acumen - understanding customer business drivers; matching those to Akamai's technology, and clearly articulating complex solutions to prospective customers. The Software Media & Gaming Team is focused on delivering the highest value to our large Enterprise and Gaming industry customers.

Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
* 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field or its equivalent or
* 3 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field or its equivalent

Required Skills
* 3+ years of experience in technical pre-sales/sales engineering, consulting, and/or other customer facing role consulting on, delivering technical products or services.
* 3+ years of experience in Internet technologies, standards and protocols, including DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, Web architecture and design, TLS, Live/VOD Streaming, OTT Broadcasting.

Desired Skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical and business related subjects to all audiences.
* Experience with Internet technologies, including an understanding of streaming, site delivery, web analytics and security.
* Experience with web site and media performance measurement, analysis, and adherence to established key performance indicators.
* Demonstrated problem solving skills, drive for results, interpersonal savvy, and customer focus.
* Domain knowledge of products and processes related to Digital Media - streaming, content security, broadcasting, online publishing, social media, gaming.
