Required Education
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
*2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or
*Relevant experience and a Master’s degree or PhD or
*Equivalent professional experience
Required Skills
*2+ years of experience as an editor in a technical documentation group
*1+ years of technical writing experience in a high-tech development environment
*1+ years of experience editing/writing UI/UX help for software-based systems
Desired Skills
*Excellent editing, writing, rewriting, and communication skills, including demonstrated ability to do structural/developmental analyses, line editing, copyediting, and proofreading.
*Thorough familiarity with Chicago Manual, and an ability to adapt quickly to in-house style and corporate personality.
*Demonstrated ability to bond, support, and work closely with writers as a consultant and coach.
*Fanatical ability and penchant for catching mistakes and typos.
*Self-motivation to learn the business processes and user needs of any project.
*Strong team player skills—must be able to work cross-functionally with UX design, engineering, product management, legal, marketing, and other Akamai teams.
*Experience with single-source publishing paradigms and information architectures.
*Experience working in an Agile development environment using Jira, Stash, and other workflow and project management tools.
*Familiarity with creating and editing DITA topics and maps and modular, task-based content in conjunction with a CMS; SDL experience a plus.
*Experience with XML-based authoring and editing tools; Oxygen experience a plus.
*Experience with source-control software; Perforce experience a plus.
*Experience or aptitude for editing API and SDK documentation for a technical audience.
