Solutions Engineers (SE’s) are experienced sales engineering professionals, adept at defining solutions that meet the business and technical requirements of Akamai’s customers. SE’s are an integral part of the sales cycle, collaborating with their sales partners to expand the breadth and depth of Akamai services adoption, ensuring growth and overall revenue retention. SE’s are self-directed, capable of leading technical sales activities, managing customer technical relationships and delivering on value confirmation tasks.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is biased toward action and has prior experience selling IDaaS solutions to enterprise brands. This position is ideal for someone with experience selling solutions for identity, social engagement, customer acquisition and analytics.

As a Senior Solutions Engineer, you will be responsible for:

* Engaging with sales prospects and qualifying opportunities from a technical perspective
* Articulating the value and functionality of the Akamai Identity Cloud through best practice strategies and customer examples based on previous implementations and experience
* Gathering and refining detailed customer requirements, in order to create effective solution designs
* Properly setting customer expectations on product functionality
* Building deep relationships with the customer’s technical team
* Owning responsibility for all pre-sales technical aspects of Janrain’s solutions, including such activities as responding to RFP/RFI’s, product and solution briefings, creating product Bills of Material, building and delivering demonstrations, specifying proof of concept evaluations, and coordinating other technical resources
* Addressing technical questions throughout the sales process to both technical and non-technical audiences
* Ensuring a successful handoff to post-sales, service delivery and customer success teams
* Working closely with Akamai product management, delivery, digital strategy, engineering and sales teams
* Regional travel up to approximately 40% of the time

Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
* 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or its equivalent or
* 6 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree in Computer Science or its equivalent

Required Skills
* 5+ years of relevant industry experience in a “customer facing” environment such as technical sales or consulting
* 3+ years of experience working with IAM/IDM solutions in a pre-sales capacity

Desired Skills
* Experience with customer identity and access management (CIAM) solutions
* Proven track record of success using sales and solutions engineering processes
* Solid web programming experience with HTTP technologies (REST, cookies/sessions, HTML, JavaScript)
* Working knowledge of web application development and integration (REST, SOAP, J2EE, PHP) and related tools (cURL, Postman)
* Familiarity with third-party authentication protocols such as OpenID, OpenID Connect, OAuth, and SAML
* Understanding of core application security concerns (password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, XSRF)
* Knowledge of marketing/web technologies such as email marketing, CMS, CRM, eCommerce, User Generated Content (UGC)
* Strong aptitude for teamwork and collaboration, ability to work in matrixed organization
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting technical topics to diverse audiences
